Probate and Pre-Probate Valuations of your estate – for its true worth

True Values

Valuations with integrity

Putting a price on your most treasured possession or heirloom may be business to the valuer but it is personal to you.

Whether I am valuing the contents of the home of your recently deceased parent, preparing an auction estimate for insurance or presiding over a fundraising auction for charity, the one thing I never forget is that to you, this is very personal.

And for that reason, I want to do the best job I can.

True Value Of An Item

What is it worth?

Determining The True Value Of An Item

When someone asks what something is worth, the answer is often, it depends. Why an item is being valued has a bearing on the price just as much as the item itself.

A valuation for insurance determines the value of replacing the item from new if it was lost or stolen. The valuation of an item for auction is determined by the amount it is likely to sell for on a given day given the prevailing market conditions.

My skill is knowing the market and being able to advise accordingly.

Dealing With Probate

Clearing a house after someone has passed away is difficult for all involved. That is when you need someone on your side who is going to treat you with respect and use their years of experience in the auction industry to give you a fair price.

Not all house-clearance companies are equal. Whilst some will pride themselves on getting things done quickly, I believe in doing things professionally. That means taking the time to evaluate everything thoroughly and giving you a considered opinion.

A Fair Price For A Fair Service

No nasty surprises

Many valuers or house-clearance companies will expect to take a percentage of the price the goods make at auction.

I do not work like that. I charge a per-hour fee for my time. That way my pricing is transparent.

I can give you an estimate of how long things are going to take, and you don’t get any nasty surprises.

Judy from Bourton

I worked with Gordon when I needed some jewellery, coins, stamps and other heirlooms valuing. He was honest, very knowledgeable, interesting and above all ethical and trustworthy. He valued everything honestly and suggested where to go next to achieve the best return on everything.

I thoroughly recommend him, especially as a single woman, as I am always very sceptical and fear people will rip me off.
He’s just great!

Elizabeth from Somerset

Thank you so much on behalf of myself and my parents, for your wonderful service and clever eye! You spotted the Chinese bowl, which we had used for years for potpourri, unaware of its value! We wanted to say thank you. The sale was a huge success and the bowl sold for £1,900.00! So, that is our summer holiday organised this year!

Many thanks again for such a professional, courteous and efficient service.

Joanne from Milborne Port

I lost my mum earlier this year and needed to clear her furniture.
Not knowing who to ask and not really sure who I could trust, I didn’t really want to arrange a house clearance company because I wasn’t sure of the value of the furniture. I was going to contact our local auction rooms, but then I happened to see a post on Facebook from Gordon Brockman of True Values. So, I decided to ring him and we arranged for him to come and look at the furniture.

I could not have asked for a more friendly, knowledgeable and honest person. He has helped me sell some of the furniture and he has kept me updated throughout the whole process.

I can honestly highly recommend Gordon. He has been totally fair and honest with me. He is in fact still helping me with various items.
